The brightness unnerved him

White light spiralled and drifted effulgent all about him

Gently he was taken up by the light

Intoxicated by its immaculate clean wonder

Sunlight danced through his battered white straw Panama

Scattering bright freckles across his kind pale face

He was dreaming, her clear voice urging him to awaken

He felt the coolness of her touch

Heard children playing at the water’s edge

Momentarily recalling the green cold kiss of the sea

As it whispered against the golden foreshore

A multitude of voices flooded his dream

Heralding a rushing finale of brightness

A thousand stars and moons

It was over now, a new beginning

His had been a most unusual life somewhere far away and long ago
