All Upon a Whistle Wind

Came there a moment still over still

All upon a whistle wind

Writing over shingle stone

washed clean beside the sea

Beneath the ragged rooted singing tree

Fast held by coiling twisting bind

Down upon soft dancing moments

Down upon that whistle wind

Lighted all the distant shoreline

Came there in that mystic knowing

Carried high upon a seabird’s wing

Born upon a shingle stone

Washed cleaned beside the sea

Beneath the ragged rooted singing tree

all beside the deep cold water

all besides the Solent’s swell
