Beneath the Tree

Beneath the tree where Prince stands quietly

Beside the cold round iron fence

Beside the flowering stinging nettles

Tall reeds and bramble twine

Beneath the tree where Prince stands quietly

Beside the brown cow gently lowing

Beside the sow and squealing piglet

Stands a boy in brightest summer

Stands a boy his hair is golden

Beside the hedgerow and the thicket

Beneath the tree where Prince stands quietly

Came then Autumn,

Came Winter too

Beneath the tree
