Nothing Works

Nothing works as well as it did

Nothing lasts for ever

It was never meant to

What used to be is no longer

Preferring instead to live in the faded sepia memories of yesteryear

The who I used to be memories of not so long ago

Littered everywhere our reminders of mindful moments

They choose to wave at me from within their silver photograph frames

Frozen for ever in times long ago

Empty echoes rattle the remains of our days

In ways we once were

Dancing rainbows scattered in their hair

Summer in their eyes

Smiling faces dressed up to the nines in pretty layers of yesterday

Motionless moments

Faraway families somewhere closeby

Far too busy to call with a smile of kisses

Taking things easy

It isn’t easy

A love for life is

Living for love is, loving for life is

Slowing up is very much like throwing up

It sickens my soul
