Vanished Like Summer

Quiet, unmoving, I thought I had vanished like summer

Skies the colour of comfort consider the setting sun

Seabirds stand motionless as they watch from a scatter of rocks

As fiery brightness pours its contents of the day below the horizon

Shining stones and tiny flashing fish await nightfall at the Solent’s edge

Quiet, unmoving, I thought I had vanished like summer
